Many times, portraits are based around milestones in life - high school and college graduation, weddings, births, career achievements. But it seems that our elder generations do not have proper portraits made anymore.
I grew up revering my grandparents and their friends. My sister and I would go out with them after church and listen to their stories. I cherish those moments and I hold a deep respect for the generations that have preceded me.
That is why I want to capture the legacy of older generations.
They deserve to be shown in their best light. Their visage tells a story in itself.
I also take a different approach to these portraits. I'm not concerned only with a nice smile. I'm looking for real expressions through conversation. An honest - but flattering - portrait is what they deserve. A portrait and a series of images to be remembered for generations to come.
