In October, I challenged myself to make a short film. I've been working with video since 2009, but I had never shot a strictly narrative piece. The guys over at Film Riot came up with a contest for a 60-second short, and that was just the deadline I needed to try my hand at it.
No, I didn't win anything, but that didn't matter. I loved having a deadline and working with some great people to make an idea become a tangible video.
A short film is definitely a team effort, and I thank Gary James and Jonathan Godsey for their graciousness to be on screen, Derek Osborn and Nathan Knight for the grip help, and T.J. Thompson for the '55 Buick.
I'd love to start making one or two of these a year, but we'll see what happens.
