Another year older, a few more lines around the eyes, and another set of portraits to see the change. I try to shoot one or two setups every year on or around my birthday to 1) try something new and 2) feel the awkwardness in front of the lens.
This year, I chose to emulate a photographer I admire, Nick Fancher. His work in color absolutely blows me away (I just pre-ordered his upcoming book Chroma) and his Studio Anywhere mentality cuts my excuses not to shoot because of the environment I'm in.
I used the Fujifilm X-Pro2 with the 56 f/1.2 lens with some gelled speedlights for the color work and a Mamiya RB67 and good ol' Kodak Tri-X 400 film and garage light for the black and white.
So here's to year 33 and another portrait session down!
